The world's tallest tower has become an important tourist attraction so much so that it is almost difficult to imagine it was once a dream project, even by Dubai's fairytale standards. Burj Khalifa took shape in the immediate aftermath of the global financial downturn and reportedly cost more than $4 billion. If its rise was a painful process, it is surely paying dividends today when Dubai's property market is making a slow but steady recovery.
